An Armed Man Takes Hold in His Ex-Partner’s Home in Héric: Police Intervene
Héric (Loire-Atlantique) - This Sunday morning, a 33-year-old man took refuge, armed, in his ex-partner's home located in the Oiseaux housing estate. Alerted around 4 a.m., the gendarmes quickly set up a major operation, including members of the gendarmerie's surveillance and intervention platoon (PSIG), as well as reinforcements from the Nantes and Saint-Nazaire companies. A negotiator was also dispatched to the scene, as reported by Ouest-France.
Progress of the Intervention
The man, apparently seeking to find his ex-partner who was absent when he arrived, initially refused all contact. After several hours of negotiations led by the Ancenis gendarmes, he finally agreed to surrender in the middle of the afternoon. The GIGN branch, called in as reinforcements, did not have to intervene.
Progress without incident
The operation took place without any major incident and the individual was arrested. The exact motivations for his actions remain to be clarified. According to the mayor of the town, Jean-Pierre Joutard, the man was not known to the neighbors.
Impact on the Community
This intervention mobilized around thirty gendarmes and disrupted the peace of the inhabitants of the Oiseaux housing estate for several hours. Although the GIGN branch was called, it did not have time to intervene, thanks to the peaceful resolution of the situation by the Ancenis gendarmes.
