Nice: After Two Fatal Drownings, Police Evacuate Several Beaches
Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) - This Sunday evening, a tragedy struck the Ponchettes beach in Nice, where a 40-year-old man was found drowned. This tragedy follows a first fatal drowning that occurred the same morning at the port of Nice, involving a forty-year-old.
Emergency Services Intervention
The second victim was discovered in cardio-respiratory arrest about twenty meters from the shore, near Castel Plage. Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, including ten firefighters, the victim could not be resuscitated, reports France Bleu.
Police Evacuate Beaches
Due to the dangerous weather conditions, with waves reaching 1.80m and winds blowing at 70 km/h, the national police took the decision to evacuate several beaches in Nice, including the beaches of Ponchettes and Carras. Red flags were raised in the late afternoon to indicate the ban on swimming.
