Spectacular Arrest Near Toulouse: An Undercover Gendarme Brings Down Drug Traffickers
Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) - This Friday, July 12, a scene described as "violent" by some witnesses took place around 5 p.m. in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in Plaisance-du-Touch, west of Toulouse. What appeared to be a big fight was in reality just a perfectly orchestrated police operation.
Undercover Operation Leads to Arrests
For several weeks, the soldiers of the Toulouse research section, in collaboration with those of the Muret research brigade, had been working hard to dismantle a network of suspected drug traffickers. At the heart of this operation was an undercover gendarme, who had posed as a potential buyer of narcotics.
Cocaine Trafficking Thwarted
To confuse the suspects, the undercover policeman solicited his contacts in order to obtain a kilo of cocaine. After several weeks of preparation and false negotiations, he finally managed to get a meeting with the traffickers in the parking lot of the fast-food restaurant, in broad daylight.
When the seller approached his car to retrieve the drugs from the trunk, the police intervened in a spectacular manner. Members of the National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN) suddenly surrounded the seller and his accomplice. At least two people were arrested at the scene, according to Pandore-Gendarmerie.
Suspects to be tried soon
According to information from the Toulouse prosecutor's office, the suspects, both aged around thirty, were to be tried this Tuesday in immediate appearance before the criminal court. This intervention marks a significant victory in the fight against drug trafficking in the Toulouse region.
This operation demonstrates the commitment and effectiveness of local law enforcement in their relentless fight against drug trafficking, thus ensuring the safety of the citizens of Plaisance-du-Touch and its surrounding areas.
